Bits-O-Honey

I titled this Bits-O-Honey because it's not about anything in particular, but I didn't think of it as "sweet", I just didn't know if any would read it if it was called Bits-O-Shit.

-Remember that candy, Bit-O-Honey? It's still around, somewhere. I know I never finished one , and there's no way that candy is biodegradable. I remember gnawing on it until it nearly pulled teeth out, then setting it down, somewhere. I couldn't imagine trying to eat one of those, now. Besides, I can't remember where I left it.

-I picked up a can of Cream Cheese Frosting Sunday. I finished it off tonight. I finally admitted to myself, that when it comes to cake, it's really all about the icing. I always froze my cakes to give the "cake" part some substance, but realized I was only trying to make the "cake" worth my time. So, rather than fighting over corner pieces I'm switching to these sweet little cans. It's gonna be a bitch getting more than 10 candles into it.

-Found out my oldest Ggirl was playing with a Ouija board yesterday, while I was at work. She finally fessed up when I asked her about the salt that was in my bed. I still don't know WHY the salt was IN my bed, but apparently, the "salt keeps you safe". I told her "leaving it alone" will make it safer. HEY! That's kind of an Abstinence speech! When I was 13yrs old I walked in the door with a Ouija board and my Mom sent me right back to the store to return it. Soon after she took me to the movies! We saw a movie about a girl close to my age. The Exorcist. I wasn't old enough to get in by myself. It was weird, at that age, to be sitting at the movies with Mom. It was weirder to be sitting at the movies with Mom while some girl, about my age, fucked herself with a crucifix. I remember sleeping with the light on and a bible on my chest for about a month.

Speaking of movies, I never got over Jaws. I was 15 when that movie came out. I've never been more than thigh deep in the ocean, since. My last vacation to the beach was in Port Aransas. 6 days I laid on that beach, oiled up and sizzling, and only occasionally walked out shin deep to wash the sand off my hands. Maybe it's like the cake/frosting syndrome, just give me the beach, the water is just for lookin at!.... I won't even go very deep in lakes or rivers, either. If I can't see the bottom, fuck that. There's a nice big river here that's a popular "tubing" river, I'll go down that, I'm never more than "butt deep".

So, inedible candy, the end of cake as we know it, pre-pubescent possession, or a fear of things when you don't even know if they're there. Your thoughts?

I actually liked Bit-O-Honey. Actually had one in the past year. (It somehow got mixed in with some bulk mini Tootsie Rolls.)
Never messed with a Ouija Board. Not afraid of it, but thought it was silly. I do admit hearing the Nuns say something about them being evil or something but by that time I quit believing them on matters of Faith and Morals.
If you don't want to go into water any deeper than you can see bottom I have the lake for you. Devil's Lake is nice and clear so you can see the bottom 10-15 feet down and small enough that it could not support a Nessie longer than your arm.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

I would have read it if it was titled Bits-O-Shit, lmao.

I tried one little piece of that candy, once...a long time ago. I don't remember much about it other than it was yucky.

Funny about the frosting...that is my least favorite part of the cake. I'd rather just have naked cake, no frosting. (Unless it's from this one bakery in Seattle...then I'll eat frosting). You can have my frosting, 'k.

The Poseidon Adventure...that one freaked me out. Saw it with my parents at the drive in...I was supposed to be asleep. It was the second feature after the kiddie movie. The idea of going across the ocean, like all the way to Europe or Hawaii, scares the hell out of me. I did manage to go on a cruise last fall, though. It was in the Caribbean...so land was never too far away.

Bits-O-Shit has a certain ring to it - but it's a good thing we don't smell the blogs.

Never tried Bits-O-Honey - I've always been a Snickers guy.

When I was a little kid I watched "Them!" one night . . . alone . . . during a thunder storm - freaked the shit outta me. Good thing that ant noise isn't audible (or maybe even real).

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I remember that candy being similar to that purple thing the dentist sticks in your mouth to get an impression. I'll hafta google Devil's Lake. Sounds good.

Oh Lord! The Yin to my Yang, the Martin to my Lewis, the key to my roller skates. I found you at last! You had me at "my least favorite part of the cake". I feel the same about boats. If I can't drive there, I'm probably not going.

I've always liked a Snickers. I'm not sure I remember seeing "Them!". I do remember seeing a movie about giant spiders that freaked me out pretty good.

The ants got giant from nuke testing in NM. Then they went to Los Angeles perhaps to become movie stars.

There was a giant spider movie filmed not far from me but back in the 60s with William Shatner aka Kirk. In the end the town is covered in a spider web.

Bit- o-Honey was always the most disappointing thing to find in your Halloween bag of candy. That is the only place I ever saw it. People actually buy and eat that stuff voluntarily?

There in that category of a dental work removal tool!
Ouija boards ?Wow I would love to read the disclaimers
in that box now a days, I'll bet they're a riot!

Some large bodies of water I am a little spooked
by.Like in a lake floating around with skies waiting
for the boat to come back around and wondering if
that old lawn furniture you saw someone dump last
year has made it to the bottom yet.

Using more than all the road!

That's probably the same one I saw. I don't remember James T. Kirk being in it, but I was freaking out on the spider!

I can't ever remember buying one, so it probably was the last piece of Halloween candy in my bag.

I've felt that pulling sensation on my teeth, yikes! That floating scenario your describing is what freaks me out, and then something brushes against my leg!

Carrie was a frighteningly memorable movie. We have the gulf down here, which isn't really an ocean, but plenty of warm water for large sharks. We used to wade out neck deep, never again. Never even thigh deep.

since the site's eating the o-n-e letter combo, I'm substituting "hiney" when I read the new, site-edited version.

I try to avoid going places where I'm not at the top of the food chain!

Hahahahaha bits-o-hiney? Damn! That would have been a better title!!! I agree with being the top of the food chain.

I nearly lost young healthy teeth, no way I could eat that now. I was thinking about watching it again, but just thinking about it freaks me out.
