Now as well. No good deed goes unpunished as they say. Still painting beats picking up dog dropping in the yards, so there is that.

The daughter called me yesterday morning. I wasn't expecting a call from her, and usually when she does call she wants something from me. This time it was to ask if I wanted to go to the cemetery with her? As it was suppose to nice out yesterday and she was getting out of work early. I didn't understand why she was asking me to go with her ( too early for me to be picking out a plot for myself ) then it dawned on me after she rang off that today is Vet's day. Okay my bad, if I don't see it written down or hear a news item about it I tend to forget. Never serving myself, ( medical problems/ hearing ) I do come from a family that has stood tall and served their country. My Father, my uncles.. all seven of them, and my grandfather on my Mothers side all served during the second world war as did my Aunt who served as a nurse in the W.A.C.'s during the time.

Now I remember all those people almost daily, though I do tend to forget they are vets. To me they are family and I remember them as such. The times together with them when I was growing up, both the good and the bad. Good men and a woman who did their part because their country needed them. Then went back to civilian life when their duty was done ... got married, had families and got on with this thing we all call life.

We owe them all a debt, to some we can never repay for they gave the last great measure and never returned from their duty. Hero's, Yes. But family as well. No matter how you remember them please take some time today to do so.

To all who have served, or are in active service now.. Thank you.

I have a framed picture of photos from back in the day of my Dad as a Corpsmen on a hospital ship & pictures of the ship hanging in my Hobby room or Man Cave as some call it !! Any time I'm in there working on whatever project , I'm reminded & remember him !!! I , myself did not have to serve in the Military !! Had to register for the Draft at 18 but was given an Agricultural Exemption because I was accepted for College for a Major in Agricultural Business with Minor in Livestock Production !! I remember the Recruiter stating that , "Individuals such as myself would be needed at Home to produce food for those serving ." Vietnam was a new Action at that time !
THANKS goes out too those that Have served or still Active Duty !!!! 🤠
