Corona – Not The Cold Kind Pt 1 You may be wondering what’s been up with that Rock guy; he hasn’t responded much or annoyed us for a while – or maybe not. Well like it or not here’s the 411. Sidebar: (yeah already) I have to acknowledge 3 posts over the last few months for their views on the site’s many issues. I have them marked and intended to make a response – but life. Onward . . . I mentioned in a blog response a while back I was getting together with some of the old gang – we do not emphasize the old part. Some guys had not seen others for 35 plus years. A lot can, and did, happen in that time – who knew? The original plan would have had 9 of us together camping up at Whitney Portal for about a week. I was going to post up on that but I ended up being the wrangler for this cat roundup. After roughly 500 emails (some may have been off subject and off color), and numerous calls things were set. But plans . . . We found that 1 guy was deceased as of early 2020 (R I P Arch), 1 we were unable to get in touch with and 1 was being flakey. So it ended up as 6 of us. The location had to be changed within the last weeks before the meet due to weather changing at 8000 ft – but it worked out pretty well since we found a warmer camping area close to Lone Pine – Diaz Lake. The week turned out to be 3 – 4 days due to life which was good since the big west coast storm hit there just after we left. Since I had the furthest to travel I split my travel into 2 days and stayed in lovely Kingman AZ. I passed on using an air mattress to save time and sacrificed comfort – it seemed like a good idea at the time. I then drove through Death Valley – that also seemed like a good idea at the time. Imagine hours of 75 MPH driving boredom followed by even more boredom but at 35 MPH. Neither I nor another buddy who traveled through DV will do that again. When I arrived there was a bit of wind in the Owens River Valley - they said to expect gusts of up to 65 MPH for the first 2 days. I don’t know if that was correct but we chose not to mess with putting up tents. Frisbees were neither tossed nor lost. I slept in my friend’s RV’s foldout couch. I was a bit sore from not sleeping in my usual bed (more on that later). The first time all 6 of us were together was Monday AM at a restaurant in Lone Pine. They decided to sit us (a rather scruffy looking bunch) away from the rest of the diners – we’ve been used to that for decades. Then the restaurant was out of regular coffee that AM - WTF. We were probably a bit loud as we caught up, ‘talked story’ and laughed a lot. At no time did we purloin and of their silverware. A picture for those of you who are visual. A number of the guys in our group are professional photographers and at various points in time I have worked as an assistant for them. This pic is not by one of them. As You Can See There Was a Full Moon Over Diaz Lake While We Were There  More later as I document this thing. It is roughly an hour since I posted this and it still is not visible. Hi there, I am still here for one week. I won't be logging on after I'm gone, if I do, it will be on my phone and that's not the easiest thing to do. I got tired of all the attention that photo was getting. It's back but friends only. I'd send it to you as email but they've made that pretty tough to do. xx

You wouldn't be trying to pull the wool over my eyes now would ya? Although I wouldn't mind the companionsheep... I'm just a little leery… your reputation precedes you... I've heard ewe are the blacksheep of the family. Is it true? Or is it shear nonsense? What are your intentions? Ewe aren't just horny or getting rammy because Bighorn rutting season is nearly over are ewe? I fear ewe may be a wolf in sheep’s clothing just trying to flock me! Should find yourself craving leg of lamb or two, ewe know where to find me Lambikins. Oh… and remind me again, how do you like it? Natural or shorn? I'm glad all is well with you, generally speaking. BTW, how is that BIGHORN of yours? I do crave your delicious leg-o-lamb and the less wool there is along the way the better. Yes, ewe and I flocking and eating (in or out) is on my mind. Ewe really should see the Bighorn for yourself he would certainly enjoy your cumpany. But you’re not even in the US are ewe? When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. So glad to hear you got to reconnect with your long time friends. I am sorry to hear you lost one of your friends. Sounds like you all know how to have a good time, and I can't wait to hear part two. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful picture of the lake with us. I hope your Hump day is a fun filled sexy one..   When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. Hey there.... I hope all is well. Although I hate to think where this might be going with Part 2. I'll be having my own adventure soon if Corona, not the cold kind, doesn't eff it up. I don't plan to be Stateside again until mid-May. All is good generally speaking. I'll try to post more on this. Don't ewe and eye have a date planned-ish? It's all visible to me Red. I'm going to attend an annual 'old boys' re-union in my city on the 13th November (first one in two years). Sadly, we lost four 'boys' during the last time we all got together. We will be toasting and remembering them. Hope your reunion is as fun as ours was. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. What a marvelous picture! I would've done the drive in one day since sleeping on the ground would tire me more than the driving. I can't wait to read more of the story. (I'm thinking the waitress was wise to stick you guys in a corner) They actually sat us in a separate section of the restaurant  When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
