Has serial dating given me an irrational fear of settling?

Have you ever noticed how some people are just ‘naturally relationship people’? They end one, and manage to find their next long-term relationship immediately.
I’m starting to think there may be such a thing as ‘naturally single people’, and I might be one of them.
Over the last two years, I have been on dates with over 30 men.
The longest any of these lasted was around two months, and all the rest were ended by them, by myself, or mutually before we even got as far as a third date.

When it comes to what I’m looking for in a person, the list really isn’t that long. At least, that’s what I believe anyway.
All I ask for is a spark, one of those moments where your stomach buzzes to the point where you feel sick and you’re dizzy from how much chemistry there is between you.
However, this is only a feeling that’s played out in my head rather than in any real life scenario. I’ve met some perfectly nice men, have been able to hold a conversation with all kinds of different people, and yet there always feels like something is missing.
Recently I’ve been thinking, has serial dating given me an irrational fear of settling?
Could it be that I have become way too used to being single, and I’m stuck in the pattern of dating with no intention of it ever going further.

I don’t consciously go on dates with this intention, but I’m starting to wonder whether the prospect of actually meeting someone is too far away from my terminally single routine that there’s a deep down fear of changing my lifestyle to fit around another human being.
I love my single life. Being single doesn’t stop me from doing anything, and sometimes I quite enjoy the odd horrible date because I look forward to telling people about it afterwards.

There has been more than one occasion where I’ve been on a date and thought: ‘I can’t wait to tell my friends about this’ because the other person’s behaviour has been so ridiculous that it’s hilarious.
But this doesn’t mean that I don’t want a good date, nor that I don’t want to meet someone serious and experience the new and unknown – falling in love.
I think the long and short of it is, I’ve come to realise I don’t need a relationship to better my life.
I don’t want a person to come and be my everything, I want someone who will fit into my life and vice versa.
I love my single life. Being single doesn’t stop me from doing anything.
My happiness isn’t dependent on having someone, and so the urgency to settle down seems less severe. Maybe that buzz is nothing but a myth and I’m naive for believing in its existence.
That’s fine, but I’m not willing to give up on the hope of it existing just yet.
If I went out with someone and the spark wasn’t there, I would fear I’m settling.
That’s not fair on either parties, and I would rather keep searching for the one who gives me the excitable feelings than to waste anyone’s time trying to make something work when my heart isn’t in it from the outset.
So for now, I’ll continue to enjoy meeting different people and retelling the events of the dates with friends, and I’ll be over here racking up more stories until I meet someone that it clicks with
